The Summit

If your tastebuds are crying out for made to order breakfast made with fresh eggs from Frog Hollow Farms, breads from Goodwin Creek and specialty craft coffee roasted by our neighbors Trager Brothers Coffee, then pop into The Summit. It’s open seven days a week from 7am to noon and it’s right by the south gate at our Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows right off route 151.

This re-purposed building was the Arrington Station train depot servicing much of Nelson County during the 1800s.  A cavalry under the Union General George Armstrong Custer was dispatched from Charlottesville to destroy rail track all the way to the Amherst Court House. Their mission included the burning of the original depot “The Summit,” named because it was the highest point above sea level on the rail line.  It was rebuilt in 1867 and the building was moved to its current location in 2015.

The Summit is a piece of history, full of character. You can also book it for special events, too. It’s got two private restrooms, a catering kitchen, and wraparound deck –ideal for your wedding, corporate meeting or family gathering.
