Devils Backbone on Tap for DC Beer Week
The 7th Annual DC Beer Week officially opens on Sunday, August 9. The leading event features 20 breweries, brewery reps and unlimited drinks at the Brewers on the Block party at Suburbia. We’ll kickoff our DB Beer Week here, pouring Cran Gose, a sour beer brewed with cranberries, and Striped Bass Pale Ale, a year-round canned offering. DB rep Alex will be there, so be sure to stop by and saw howdy!
Now, where can you find DB beers during the week? Here’s the full run down.
Devils Backbone specialty brews Appa-lachian Pie Stout and Cru Noir are featured all week at Maddy’s Taproom and we’ll be on tap at multiple events around the capitol each day this week.
Senior brewer April Anderson is all set to hang with fellow women brewers at The Black Squirrel on Monday, August 10. While the evening is geared toward women, ’cause they’re talking all things women in brewing, everyone is welcome! DB brews on tap include one-offs Maibock and Appla-achian Pie Stout. April led her DB family brew team in the stout’s recipe design and brew day as part of the larger Devils Backbone Family Beer Project.
You’ll also find DB beers paired with delicious dishes at MacIntyre’s on the 10th. We can’t wait to see what the chef creates to accompanying our Gold Leaf Lager, Trail Angel Weiss, Eight Point IPA and Schwartz Bier.
The DB team heads to Union Pub on Tuesday (Aug. 11) for a Devils Backbone tap takeover and the infamous Union Pub Trivia Night! DB’s Alex will be there, he’s a pretty smart guy – you may wanna get hin on your team! The folks at Union will be pouring a couple of one-offs from our Brewpub, Ramsey’s Export Stout and Pub Ale.
Into whiskey. Fan of craft beer. Jack Rose Dining Saloon hosts a beer & spirits pairing on August 12 that’ll temp your palate every which way! Try the beers alone, or pair with a whiskey selected by Jack Rose!
DB Brewmaster Jason Oliver dug deep in his catalogue and rolled out rarities for the Jack Rose event. Jason even created a barrel-aged sour that was aged on a Jack Rose Willet Barrel! Other specialty offerings include Cuvee du Gooch – which Jason created by blending several brews from the DB vault and fermenting with Brettanomyces. The full tap list offers you a chance to try upwards of 20 DB beers, most not found in package!
The next evening on the 13th, we head to Maddy’s Bar and Grille where you will find Turbo Cougar and a pin of our Teddy Bear, which is an extra special rendition of our Vienna Lager – fermented with cocoa nibs, vanilla beans and cinnamon!
Hello total tap takeover, Meridian Pint Friday night! Total as in 24 taps with Devils Backbone flowing – includes the 2015 release of Pumpkin Hunter, our seasonal pumpkin beer, loaded with spice and balanced with a delicious malt profile, like pumpkin pie in your glass! We’ve rolled out old faves like Danzig Baltic-style Porter, Ale of Fergus, and Berliner Metros Weiss and you’ll have a chance to try new brews like Antipodean IPA, brewed exclusively with southern hemisphere hops and a special Pumpkin Hunter firkin.
End your amazing DC Beer Week with us as Devils Backbone presents Duetschland in Dupont at Sauf Haus on Saturday, August 16. A wide range of 16 German-style DB brews are lined up for the Marquee Event which begins at 12 p.m. Vienna Lager, Gold Leaf Lager, and Schwartz Bier along with rarities created at our Brewpub, Scuttlebutt Kolsch, UR-Pils, Coe-habitation, Morana Dark Lager, Berliner Metro Weiss, Cran Gose, Maibock, Tommy Two Fists and Alt Bier.
