• NELSON COUNTY BIKE FESTIVAL

  August 28th is the Devils Backbone Mountain Cross.  Ride 65 miles of quiet, scenic, rural mountain roads in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Nelson County.  Choose any type of bike (road, cross or mountain bike) to tackle these challenging paved and unpaved mountain roads.  You will follow mountain streams to high ascents with cool temperatures.  You will also plunge descents for miles and miles.  Make sure you have some low gears for the 6400ft of elevation gain and some 15+ % grades.

  August 29th at 10am, The Stampede on Horseshoe Mountain will take you on paved, gravel, dirt, and single track trails through the mountains of Nelson County. Make sure those brakes are working on your mountain bike.  Website for the event: http://ors.cycleva.com/2010/dse.htm

  Register for both events at  www.bikereg.com  The first 400 racers to register for either event will receive a free T-shirt.  If you sign up for both races, we will refund $5.00 off your Stampede registration.  Email your DB Mountain Cross registration receipt and we will take care of the rest.

  Wintergreen Resort is providing some special rate lodging for this special weekend, see below for link. There will be a Special Racers Menu at Devils Backbone Brewing Company.  Hammer Nutrition will provide swag and on course product.  Backlight Photography will be capturing the event.

• THE FESTY

  The Infamous Stringduster, The Artist Farm, and Cerberus Productions are pleased to present The Festy Experience, a 2-day camping festival over Columbus Day Weekend, October 9 & 10, at The Concert Grounds at Devils Backbone in Nelson County, VA (near Wintergreen Resort just outside of Charlottesville).  Hosted and curated by The Infamous Stringdusters, The Festy Experience will celebrate and combine the best in live music, the outdoor sports and lifestyle, beer culture, and raging good times.

   In addition to two nights with The Infamous Stringdusters, confirmed acts include Railroad Earth, Josh Ritter, Toubab Krewe, The Tony Rice Unit, and a slew of other musically diverse acts that embody The Festy Experience spirit.

   Included with your ticket is free camping and a slew of other fun outdoor activities.

   Devils Backbone Brewing Co., the 2010 World Beer Cup Champion Brewery and Brewmaster (Jason Oliver) for a small brewpub, is sponsoring a beer tent along with nationally recognized Starr Hill Brewerey.
